Open source is where the cool software is

I remember when Windows 2000 came out; aside from some annoying bugs in the initial release that prevented many Windows 98 programs from running, it was the coolest desktop operating system on the market. I even bought a copy for myself, which would be the first and only time I would buy a Microsoft operating system. It's not that I'm against buying software, but Microsoft lost its ability to write cool software sometime after Win2000 was released. Nowadays they're famous for writing buggy, insecure, inflexible software. I think most people -- especially the technically inclined -- follow the coolest technology. And that's why Windows Vista will be a big flop.

4 and 11

Here's an interesting statistic for you: the busiest time of the week for the Perinton Ambulance Corps. is between the hours of 4AM and 11AM on Monday mornings. The implication is that so many people are so stressed about work or school that they get seriously ill as a result.
